The Loch Garman senior and youth band will be playing in Taghmon and at St. Iberius Church over the weekend of October 3 and 4 for the 200th anniversary of Henry Francis Lyte's curacy of Taghmon and the annual Harvest Thanksgiving Service.
Henry Francis Lyte, a graduate of Trinity, a poet and a gifted hymn writer, held a curacy in Taghmon parish in 1815-1816.
His most famous and wholly universal hymn, Abide With Me, has been sung at every FA Cup Final since 1927 as well as for solemn occasions such as those at Remembrance Day commemorations.
The Loch Garman Youth band will perform at 12:00 mass in Rowe Street Church on Sunday 15th March.
Their selected programme includes music by Charpentier, James Curnow, Handel and Clarke.
The Youth Band are currently busy preparing to participate in the County Wexford Youth Orchestra Festival Concert which takes place in the National Opera House on Sunday 22nd March.
Sunday 7th December the Loch Garman Youth Band play as guests of the Wexford Ladies Choir at their Christmas Concert in the Friary Church Wexford at 15:00.
On Wednesday 10th December they present a concert in the Mercy School St Johns Road 20:00 with guests The Mercy School Choir. Proceeds are in aid of Mercy School Playground Equipment.
On Saturday 20th Dec the Loch Garman Youth Band will give a Christmas Recital as part of “Selskar Under The Stars” programme of entertainment.
